The style is not pure clawhammer, rather something like "clawpick" would be a better name as I use my index finger like a pick to get notes sequences clearer and so I can use my thumb on upbeats more easily. Incidentally, a very nice version of CMB was recorded by the Kentucky Colonels on their classic album "Appalachian Swing," featuring sublime rhythm and lead guitar by the one-and-only Clarence White.
